An Attorney Can Help After A Car Accident Injury

Hi, my name is Kirsten Krueger and two years ago, I was in a car accident. I was stopped at a stop sign when the driver behind me slammed into my car. Due to my injuries, I had to spend a few days in the hospital and I was unable to work for two months. My medical care was expensive and without being able to work, I couldn't pay my bills. The car accident was stressful enough and then I had to worry about how I would pay my bills. After speaking with a car accident lawyer, it wasn't long before I was compensated for my medical bills and lost wages from work. I'm writing this blog to help others who have been a car accident and haven't received any compensation. As you read my posts, you'll learn how an attorney can help you if you're in a vehicle accident.

Three Symptoms You Shouldn't Ignore After A Car Accident

by Sara Williamson

If you have been in a car accident, you shouldn't be too quick to assume that you are all right. There are many medical issues that can reveal themselves days or weeks after an accident. The following are a few symptoms of an injury you may have sustained without realizing it.

A headache

Although a headache may have been induced by the accident and later dissipate, it is possible that it can be something serious that will not show new symptoms until weeks from the time of the car accident. For this reason, you need to see a doctor, even for something you believe is not a problem. There are many reasons for a headache, and some of them can be serious. A mild concussion is one example, and a physician can determine the health implications from your head injury.

A numbness in your feet or hands

This can be a sign of damage to the nerves, and it is not necessarily temporary. After the accident, you may feel a slight numbness or a tingling sensation in your extremities, this could be due to a pinched nerve or even spinal damage. This type of problem is ignored by many people because it is a common feeling. Some people can sit the wrong way or sleep in a unusual position resulting in this same type of feeling. But after an accident, it may not be something that goes away. It is best to have a doctor check it out. Even if nothing can be detected at the time, schedule a follow-up visit.

Back or neck pain

Although this type of pain would seem to be an obvious symptom of an injury, the problem is that the pain is often mild, at least at the time of the accident. Many people will simply try and shake it off; however, this is not a good idea. Mild back pain may not go away. It may even get worse. This is especially true if the injury is to one of the vertebrate causing a herniated disc. The problem can become worse over time. The same is true with neck pain. Even mild neck pain could be a symptom of whiplash, and this may require physical therapy to help the healing process.

If you have been in a car accident, and you feel in pain, numbness or any other discomfort, you should seek medical attention. Even if a doctor cannot find any problems, if it turns out later that there was a medical problem, it will have been documented that you sought medical help. This will help a doctor with diagnosis and treatment as well as an auto accident attorney for insurance reasons.
